time to tell stories

Maria is an economic & investment analyst at DTZ.

First thing every day she reads business newspapers such as Vedomosti and Kommersant. She likes reading research reports from leading investment banks (UBS, RenCap, JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley).

Her boss Sam has been fired couple of weeks ago, so she started feeling lonely in the office, cause Sam was the one to talk to about finance and politics. Sam used to send her all the research stuff, and now Maria has nothing to read except the reports from the 2nd tier local investment companies. Maria used to show Sam her artworks, about which he said "Hey, they're nice. You should bring some more."

Last year Maria joined ICA-Moscow, but she knew nothing about contemporary art, and it wasn't easy for her to understand everything discussed during the classes. The only progress was that she stopped taking ordinary landscape photographs with her camera (see couple of pages back).

As she wanted some gloryin her professional career she had to spend more and more time studying finance and economics. So during her year in ICA she came up with only one project "Fake landscape", which Stas Shuripa said he quite liked.

Maria was hoping that after doing her CFA level 1 erxam early in June, she will have enough time to start reading books on contemporary arts, and continue her research on fake landscapes. But her year in ICA stopped soon, and she didn't know how to start being an artist without any institutional help or without the art community.

Then she realised that in order to be a decent artist she needs to be smarter and more experienced. So she started reading books, magazines, surfing the internet galleries. She even started going to openings. It is not at all easy, when you are kind of tired after a day in the office, you are sleepy, you want to go home, you know you need a new hairstyle, etc.

So I started posting some of my new projects in my blog and several art communities. Now I kind of like what I am doing and really want to spend some more time doing this. Hope I'll implement a stricter time administration next year that'll help me free one or two hours a week for my art.

Really, I don't know when it is enough text for the whole previous year (I haven't been writing a lot), but I need to keep my english in a good shape now that Sam left. Though I don't think I'll be writing a lot in this blog, I'll continue posting my artworks here.
